UNS

UNS is a dedicated service delivered using SHDSL (Single-Pair high-speed digital subscriber line) technology over the traditional copper telephone network. It has specifically been designed to support data, voice and video traffic.

This technology is slated to replace Frame Relay as it's just as reliable, easier to work with and more cost effective.

UNS is easy to work with as it terminates in Ethernet and supports multiple real world IP's.

The service is synchronous and the bandwidth is un-contended making it faster and more stable than current ADSL services.
UNS is available wherever there is copper/DSL coverage and would be a prime alternative should Fibre not be available.

Circuit speeds start at 128k and go up to 2 Mbit synchronous up and down stream.

How does it work?

UNS circuits are delivered over ATM to Orcon and terminates in Ethernet at the customers premises.

UNS is available throughout New Zealand in areas where ADSL have been deployed.
