What Will I Need?

What you need

In order to get Orcon Broadband in your home or office there are a few things that you will need:

1. Broadband Installation

You need a connected telephone line, and you will need to have Broadband enabled on this phone line. There are two flavours of installation, a 'self-install', and a 'full-install'.

Self-Install

A technician is sent to your local telephone exchange to enable broadband on your line. With a self-install you will need to have a line filter for each active phone in your house.

Full-Install

The technician visits your house to complete some physical wiring that means you will not need to use line filters. A full-install is necessary in some situations such as if you have a monitored alarm, Sky Digital, a PABX, or more than 5 active phone jacks. If you are not sure if you need this call our Help Desk on 0508 564 687.

Already have broadband?

If you already have fixed line broadband through another provider you can currently switch to one of Orcon's great plans for free.

2. DSL Modem

To get broadband you need a broadband modem. If you are on the Orcon+ Network, you will need an ADSL2+ compatible modem. All Orcon@Home plans come with a free single port modem or the option to hire an Orcon Homehub. For more details on either of these modems visit our Hardware page.

3. DSL Line Filter(s)

Line filters split the traffic on the phone line into voice (to your phone) and data (to your computer). You will need a phone line filter for each phone jack point in your house. We have a special Orcon-customer-only price of $5 per filter.
