Which Orcon mobile device do you have?
Nokia 2730 handset
Before sending a multimedia message on the Orcon mobile network, you must first set up an APN (Access Point Name) within your phone, to allow the sending of MMS / PXT messages.
Please follow the below instructions to set up the MMS access point name.
Make sure the Orcon mobile network APN is set-up.
- Select Menu > Settings > Configuration > Personal config. sett.
- Select Options > Add new > Multimedia msg.
- Select Account name and change to Orcon MMS then select ok.
- Select Server address and enter http://orcon.nzmms.net.nz/pxtsend then select ok.
- Select Use pref. access pt. and select No.
- Select Access point settings > Proxy and select Enable.
- Select Proxy address and enter 172.030.038.003 and then select ok.
- Select Proxy port and enter 8080 and then select ok.
- Select Bearer settings > Packet data acc. Pt.
- Enter wap.orcon.net.nz and then select ok.
Now you have set up the MMS access points you will need to configure your message settings to use them.
- Select Menu > Messaging > Message settings > Multimedia messages > Configuration sett. > Configuration.
- Select Personal config. from the list.
Important: Before being able to send MMS messages to your friends and family, you must first send an MMS message to your mobile number to activate MMS on the network.
The Orcon network will limit the size of MMS messages to 300kb. If the inserted picture exceeds this limit, the device may make it smaller so that it can be sent by MMS.
Create a text or multimedia message
- Select Menu > Messaging > Create message > Message.
- To add recipients, scroll to the To: field, and enter the recipient’s number or e-mail address, or select Add to select recipients from the available options. Select Options to add recipients and subjects and to set sending options.
- Scroll to the Text: field, and enter the message text.
- To attach content to the message, scroll to the attachment bar at the bottom of the display and select the desired type of content.
- To send the message, press Send.
The message type is indicated at the top of the display and changes automatically depending on the content of the message.
Nokia 5030 handset
No instructions for MMS / PXT sending at this time.
Nokia E71 handset
Before sending a multimedia message on the Orcon mobile network, you must first set up and APN (Access Point Name) within your phone, to allow the sending of MMS / PXT messages.
Please follow the below instructions to set up the MMS access point name.
Make sure the Orcon mobile network APN is set-up.
- Select Menu > Tools > Settings
- In Settings select Connections > Access Points
- Select Options > New Access Point
- Highlight the connection name and click the centre button to change.
- Type Orcon MMS and click ok.
- Enter the following information in to the other fields in the same way.
- Data bearer: Packet data
- Access Point Name: wap.orcon.net.nz
- Username: None
- Prompt Password: No
- Password: None (There will be 4 stars in here by default)
- Authentication: Normal
- Homepage: http://orcon.nzmms.net.nz/pxtsend
- Save and go back to options.
- In Options go to Advanced Setting and ensure the following settings are listed.
- Network type: IPv4
- Phone IP address: Automatic
- DNS address: Automatic
- Proxy server address: 172.030.038.003
- Proxy port: 8080
Once you have confirmed the above settings have been changed you will need to select Orcon MMS as the Access Point for your phone to use.
- From the main menu select Communications > Options > Settings > Multimedia message
- Change Access Point in use to Orcon MMS
- Hit back, back to exit.

Create and send multimedia messages
- To create a new message, select New message > Multimedia message.
- In the To field, enter a recipient's number or e-mail address, or press the scroll key to add a recipient from Contacts. If you enter more than one number or e-mail address, separate them with a semicolon.
- In the Subject field, enter a subject for the message. To change the fields that are visible, select Options > Address fields.
- Enter the text of the message, and select Options > Insert object to add media objects. You can add objects such as Image, Sound clip, or Video clip. The wireless network may limit the size of MMS messages. If the inserted picture exceeds this limit, the device may make it smaller so that it can be sent by MMS.
- Each slide of your message can contain only one video or sound clip. To add more slides to your message, select Options > Insert new > Slide. To change the order of slides in your message, select Options > Move.
- To preview a multimedia message before sending it, select Options > Preview.
- Select Options > Send. To delete an object from a multimedia message, select Options > Remove.
To set the sending options for the current multimedia message, select Options > Sending options.
HTC Legend handset
Before sending a multimedia message on the Orcon mobile network, you must first set up an APN (Access Point Name) within your phone, to allow the sending of MMS messages.

- On the Home screen, press MENU, and then tap Settings.
- Tap Wireless & networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names.
- Select MENU > New APN
Once in this screen you will need to enter the following information in to the corresponding fields. All other fields can be left blank or as they are.
- Name: orcon mms
- APN: wap.orcon.net.nz
- MMSC: http://orcon.nzmms.net.nz/pxtsend
- MMS proxy: 172.030.038.003
- MMS Port: 8080
- MMS Protocol: WAP 2.0
- MCC: 530

Save settings once completed by taping Menu and then Save.

- Fill in one or more recipients. You can:
- Enter phone numbers directly in the To field. If you're sending the message to several phone numbers, separate the phone numbers with a comma. As you enter information, any matching phone numbers from your contacts list are displayed. Tap a match to enter that number or address directly.
- Tap the
icon, and then select the phone numbers of the contacts to whom you want to send the message. You can also select contact groups as recipients. When you have selected all the message recipients, tap Done.
- Tap the box that says Tap to compose.
- Press MENU, and then tap Attach.
- Select the media that you would like to send.
- Tap Send to send the message immediately, or press BACK to save it as a draft. To open and edit a draft message, see Resuming a draft message.

Please follow the below instructions to set up the MMS access point name.
Make sure the Orcon mobile MMS APN is set-up
- Tap the Windows icon at the bottom of your hand-set.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Wireless controls > Menu > Connections.
- Tap Advanced > Select Networks.
- Select New.
- Type Orcon MMS as the name for the connection then Tap “Done”
- With “Orcon MMS” selected, tap Edit.
- On the next screen tap “New” and type in Orcon MMS.
- For “Select a modem” select “Cellular Line (GPRS)” and tap “Next”
- Type in “wap.orcon.net.nz” in the “Access point name” field and tap “Next”
- Tap Finish, leaving all other fields blank.
- Go back to the Network Management screen and select your Orcon Internet Connection (eg. My ISP)
- Tap Done
Setting up MMS
- Tap the Windows button on the bottom of your hand-set
- Tap HTC Messages
- Select Menu > Settings > Options
- On the bottom right select Menu > MMS Server
- Tap New and fill in the following. You may need to scroll down for some of these fields.
- Leave all other details blank and tap Done
- Tap Orcon MMS again to select it
- Tap Cancel when the Orcon MMS settings come up
- With Orcon MMS selected Tap Menu > Set as Default
- Tap Back > Done
You should now be able to send MMS messages on your Orcon mobile.
