Using an Orcon data connection
Before you can connect to the internet on your new Orcon mobile, you must first enabled the data services and set the correct Orcon APN (Access Point Name).
To do this, please follow the instructions below.
To set up the Orcon Access Point:
- Select Menu > Settings > Connectivity > Packet Data > Packet Data settings
- Select Active access point and then activate Access Point 2
- Select Edit active acess pt.
- Select Alias for access point change name to Orcon then select ok
- Select Packet data acc. Pt. and enter in www.orcon.net.nz then select ok
To enable the data services follow the below set-up.
- Select Menu > Settings > Configuration > Personal config. Sett.
- Select Options > Add New
- Select Access point
- Select Account name and then enter Orcon then select ok.
- Select Access point settings > Bearer settings > Packet data ac. Pt.
- Enter www.orcon.net.nz and then select ok
- Go back, until you are at Personal accounts
- Select Options > Add new > Web > Account name
- Change account name to Orcon web and then select ok
- Select Homepage
- Enter the web address that you would like to be your home page and then select ok.
Once you have set up the access points you will need to configure your web settings to use them.
- Select Menu > Web > Web settings > Configuration sett. > Configuration
- Select Personal config.
- Go back to the Home screen and select Menu > Settings > Configuration > Default config. sett.
- Select Personal config. and then Option and Set as default
- Select Preferred access pt. from the Configurations settings menu and select the Orcon web access point.
You are now ready to browse the web on your new Nokia 2730 hand-set.

Using an Orcon data connection
Before you can connect to the internet on your new Orcon mobile, you must first enable the data services and set the correct Orcon APN (Access Point Name).
To do this, please follow the instructions below.
Make sure the Orcon mobile network APN is set-up
- Select Menu > Tools > Settings
- In the Settings Menu go to Connection > Access point
- Select Options > New Access Point
- Highlight connection name and then click the centre button to change.
- Change the name by typing in Orcon data and then click OK.
- Ensure the below settings are in the other fields
- Data bearer: Packet data
- Access Point Name: www.orcon.net.nz
- Username: Leave blank
- Prompt password: No
- Password: Leave blank (There will be 4 stars in here by default)
- Authentication: Secure
- Homepage: www.orcon.net.nz
- Click back when complete, then back again to exit.
Set Orcon as the default connection
- Click on Menu > Web
- Will try to connect, click Cancel
- Click Options > Settings
- Choose General
- Highlight Access point and make sure user defined is selected and click OK.
- Select Orcon as the default access point and click OK.
- Click back to exit out.
- Click on homepage and change to www.orcon.net.nz
Connect to the Internet

To browse the web (network service), you need to configure the internet access point settings. If you are using a data call or GPRS connection, your wireless network must support data calls or GPRS, and the data service must be activated for your SIM card.
Tip: You may receive the internet access point settings from your service provider as a special text message or from the service provider's web pages. You can also enter the internet access point settings manually.
Check the availability of services, pricing, and fees with your service provider. Service providers also give you instructions on how to use their services.
The internet browser in this device supports the Unicode encoding format.
If the web page is unreadable or not supported and garbage code is found while browsing, you can try to select

Your phone puts the whole Internet in your pocket. You can get online using an Orcon data connection or a Wi-Fi network.
Using an Orcon Data Connection
Before you can connect to the internet on your new Orcon mobile using a data connection, you must first enable the data services and set the correct Orcon APN (Access Point Name).
To do this, please follow the instructions below.
To check that the data connection is turned on:
- On the Home screen, press MENU, and then tap Settings.
- Tap Wireless & networks, and select the Mobile network check box to turn your connection on (It will have a green tick beside it when it is turned on).
Make sure the Orcon mobile network APN is set-up.
- On the Home screen, press MENU, and then tap Settings.
- Tap Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > Access Point Names.
- Select Menu > New APN
- Once in this screen you will need to enter the following information in to the corresponding fields. All other fields can be left blank.
- Name: Orcon data
- APN: www.orcon.net.nz
- APN type: default, supl
Save settings once completed by tapping Menu and then Save.
Using Wi-Fi Connection
If you are using your Orcon mobile in the vicinity of a Wireless (Wi-Fi) network that you have access to, you connect to this instead of using your Orcon data connection.
- On the Home screen, press MENU, and then tap Settings > Wireless & networks.
- Select the Wi-Fi check box to turn Wi-Fi on. The phone will scan for available wireless networks.
- Tap Wi-Fi settings. You’ll see the network names and security settings of any detected Wi-Fi networks.
- Tap a Wi-Fi network to connect to. If you select an open network, you’ll be automatically connected. If you select a secured network, enter the key, and then tap Connect.

- On the Home screen, press MENU, and then tap Settings > Wireless & networks.
- Select the Wi-Fi check box to turn Wi-Fi on. The phone will scan for available wireless networks.
- Tap Wi-Fi settings. You’ll see the network names and security settings of any detected Wi-Fi networks.

Using an Orcon data connection
Before you can connect to the internet on your new Orcon mobile, you must first enable the data services and set the correct Orcon APN (Access Point Name).
To do this, please follow the instructions below.
Make sure the Orcon mobile network APN is set-up.
- Tap the Windows icon at the bottom of your hand-set
- Tap Settings
- Tap Wireless controls > Menu > Connections
- Tap Advanced > Select Networks
- Select My ISP from drop down menu for “Programs that automatically connect to the internet should connect using” and then tap Edit below that.
- Tap New and type Orcon data as the name for the connection.
- Under select a modem, select Cellular Line (GPRS) and then tap Next.
- Enter www.orcon.net.nz in to Access Point name and then tap Next.
- Leave the remaining fields blank and then tap finish.
- Tap and hold the new Orcon connection to set this as a default (a green circle should appear next to it).
You should now be able to connect to the internet. If it does not work straight away you may need to restart your phone. You may also need to ensure that the data connection is turned on, by following the below instructions.
To check that the data connection is turned on:
- Tap the Windows icon at the bottom of your hand-set.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap the Wireless Controls, W-fi etc option on your list of settings.
- Tap the On – Off option under Data connections to turn your data connection on.
To save battery life, you can switch off the data connection when not in use. On the Home screen, slide to the Settings tab, tap Wireless controls, and then tap the Data connection option’s Off/On slider.
Using a Wi-Fi connection
If you are using your Orcon mobile in the vicinity of a Wireless (Wi-Fi) network that you have access to, you connect to this instead of using your Orcon data connection.
If you skipped Wi-Fi setup when you first turned on your phone, follow the steps below to connect your phone to a Wi-Fi network.
- On the Home screen, slide to the Settings tab and then tap Wireless controls.
- Tap Wi-Fi. Detected wireless networks are displayed on the screen.
- Tap the desired Wi-Fi network.
- If you selected an open (unsecured) network, you are automatically connected to the network.
- If you selected a secured network, enter the security key and then tap Done. You are then connected to the network.
