FAQ: Training the Orcon mail service to recognise spamIf you have an e-mail that is spam forward the e-mail as an attachment to the following email address: trainasspam @orcon.net.nz This updates the built in spam filters definition of what spam is, ensuring that you do not receive emails from this source again. By the same token, if you have emails that are being incorrectly classified as spam you can forward them as an attachment to the following email address - .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) This will update the spam filters definition of what a valid email is. Please Note: You will need a few examples of the same email before the software will “whitelist” it To set your spam filtering settings please log into your account, select “My Services” from the menu on the left. Below this please click on “Email” and then on “”. Please keep in mind that the threshold scale has been set to 10 being the weakest spam filtering and 1 being the strongest. Care must be taken changing these settings as it can result in valid e-mails being marked as spam and deleted, depending on the settings. Categories: Setting up - Setting up email |

If you currently have broadband with another provider, then your existing modem should be able to connect to Orcon broadband. We can also rent you a modem if that suits Broadband enabled phone line To allow you to talk and use the internet at the same time, your line needs to be set up to separate the voice and data components at your premises and the local telephone exchange. Line filter(s) To separate the voice and data streams coming over your phone line, you need to have a line filter installed which provides phone and internet jack points. This is automatically included if you go for a "Full Install", but for "Self Install" options you will need to purchase a line filter for each jack point you plug a device into. Note: not needed with Orcon Genius. Ethernet or USB-capable computer We generally recommend you have a 1Ghz or faster computer with an Ethernet networking card or USB port onboard to get the best out of the internet.
