FAQ: Voicemail instructions

To set up Orcon voicemail, dial 789 and follow the instructions. Note: 789 won’t work for all customers (it depends what network you are on) . If 789 fails to let you access your voicemail, then dial 083210 and follow the instructions. You can also download a pdf copy of the guides below.

Toll rates are rounded up to the nearest minute. For example, if you called somewhere for 2 minutes and 29 seconds, you will be charged for 3 minutes worth of calling.

FAQ: Are any services incompatible with Orcon Tolls?

Yes, there are certain services that Telecom provide which you cannot use if you are an Orcon Tolls customer. These are: • Customerlink • DDI extension • Dual number • Faxability number • Calltrack • Call re-address • Priority service Please check your Telecom bill for these before deciding to become an Orcon Tolls customer.

FAQ: How do I sign up for Orcon Tolls?

Just give us a call on 0800 13 14 15 and we will place an order for you to be connected. You do not need to contact your current toll provider; we will do that on your behalf. When you're about to change over to us, we'll send you a confirmation email to let you know when you can start saving money with Orcon Tolls.

FAQ: Call Waiting - tell me more

Call Waiting allows you to answer a second call if you are already on the phone. Call Waiting works on all touch-tone phones. When you are on the phone you will hear 4 beeps telling you that someone else is trying to get through. If you want to take the call coming through you can either: Hang Up If you want to end your current call and answer the incoming call just hang up the phone. The phone will then ring with the second call. Press the recall button This will switch you to the incoming call. If you want to switch between the two calls keep pressing the recall button. You can turn off Call Waiting if you are making an important call or dialling up to the internet by dialling *52 at the start of the call. Once you have finished the call, Call Waiting will automatically be reactivated.

FAQ: What are Call Waiting/Call Minder/Caller ID?

Call Waiting When you are on the phone and someone else calls you will hear four short beeps on the line. You can then switch between the calls by pressing the 'recall' button on your telephone. Call Minder Call Minder does the same job as an answer phone, but you don't have to have one sitting in your house. Record your own greeting that callers will hear. You can listen to your messages from any touch-tone phone in New Zealand. Caller ID Caller ID shows you the phone number of the person making the incoming call. You will need a Caller ID compatible phone, or a separate Caller ID display unit.

No. Unfortunately once you give up your old number it is irretrievable. So think carefully before you decide to get a new number.

FAQ: How are the calls billed?

Toll rates are rounded up to the nearest minute. For example, if you called somewhere for 2 minutes and 29 seconds, you will be charged for 3 minutes worth of calling. There is no monthly fee for Orcon Tolls, and no minimum spend. There are no charges for local calls, but if you dial an area code for a local call it will be charged as a national call. Toll calls are charged for any successful call, even if it is answered by an answering machine, but we do not charge for unsuccessful calls, such as when the line is engaged.
