FAQ: What is interleaving?Interleaving is basically a way to arrange data to protect against burst errors, which happen rarely but can disrupt data transmission when they do occur. The downside to having interleaving enabled is that it increases latency (i.e. it slows down the connection). For more information on interleaving see Wikipedia. FAQ: Do you restrict bandwidth or throttle peer to peer (P2P) traffic?Orcon prioritises certain types of traffic such as web and email. Other types of traffic such as peer to peer (P2P) are deprioritised. We have implemented a layer 7 quality of service (QOS) appliance which prioritizes traffic that is latency sensitive and the most widely used applications (HTTP - web surfing, VOIP, gaming, email) above other traffic, particularly peer to peer. This means that if the network is experiencing very high load then quality of service is maintained for the types of traffic that need it the most. Peer to peer program users may notice a reduction in the speeds obtainable for that period of peak traffic. Note that this traffic management only applies to international traffic. We do not generally shape domestic traffic unless there is a threat to network stability. Categories: Product details - Our network |

A quick visit to the front page of our website (http://www.orcon.net.nz) will show you how much data you have used. Orcon’s overage charges are also incredibly competitive at just $2 per Gigabyte. You can also add big data bundles to your plan (up to 1000GB) at even better prices if you just can’t get enough of that super-fast broadband. Categories: Product details - Our network |
