Full speed is the maximum speed that your line can go. Things like how far you are away from your exchange, how old your line or exchange is and how old the wiring is in your house will all affect how fast your connection can go.

You can check how much data you have used by logging into the My Orcon section of the website at any time, from anywhere with an Internet connection. It’s easy! Log in to 'My Orcon' using your Orcon username and password. On the main page you'll be able to see graphs of your daily averages, usage to date, total data and predicted usage based on current trend. If you would like more information, click on 'Current Plans' under the 'My Plans' down the left-hand side. Then click on the little grey 'Usage' button to the right. You can then see your usage for the current billing cycle, as well as your historic usage. Please note that there can be a delay of up to one hour in the usage meter being updated. Keep this in mind if you are concerned about exceeding your data limit.

Your first bill may be higher than expected because you will be invoiced from the day your services go live until the 22nd of the month and then for a month in advance. This will bring you in line with our monthly billing cycle (23rd - 22nd monthly). DON’T PANIC. You haven’t been billed twice. Just remember, billing is done on the 23rd of each month & base charges are billed 1 month in advance. Hopefully it will all make perfect sense.

Any calls made that involve Genius Go will always sound best over Wi-Fi – this is because Wi-Fi has the lowest latency (delay), and fastest speed. 3G connections are also fine when the connection is strong, but mobile data connections do suffer from higher latency (longer delays), slower speeds, and weaker reception.

You have to be connected to the internet (mobile or Wi-Fi) in order to send messages. If you’re out of mobile data or out of Wi-Fi range, try again when you’re back in range.

The best way to limit how much 3G data you use is by using Wi-Fi wherever it’s available (calls over Wi-Fi don’t count as 3G data of course). In addition, you can track your 3G data usage in the Data Usage page on the app.

Genius Go is pretty light on data usage - if you made an average 5 minute call and sent 500 instant messages you’d use less than 2MB of 3G or Wi-Fi data.. It also uses a very small amount of background data so it knows when texts and calls are coming in.
