Glossary: Telephone Exchange A telephone exchange is a central point in a town or suburb where the phone lines of everyone in that area interconnect. It is generally a rather nondescript looking building full of lots and lots and lots of wires. Glossary: Connection Speed This is the rate at which data is transferred to and from the Internet. This is generally measured in Megabits per second, or Mbps. Dial-up users may measure their speed in Kilobits per second, or Kbps. If you are on Orcon+ broadband the theoretical maximum is 24Mbps download and 1Mbps upload, and on regular broadband it is 7.6Mbs download and 768kps upload.
