Rowing the Tasman Solo

19 January 2010 - Written by Duncan Blair - Orco

Young Kiwi lad Shaun Quincey plans to leave in the next two days to embark on a journey to become only the second person ever to row across the Tasman Sea single-handedly, and the first person to do it from Australia to New Zealand. He is the Tasman Trespasser.

As I type Shaun is sitting in Sydney making final preporations for his departure from Coffs Harbour tomorrow or Thursday (weather permitting). It is a journey of 2200km that couldl take him up to 80 days to complete.

Shaun is following in his father Colin Quincey's footsteps, who was the first to row the Tasman solo back in 1977.

As a major sponsor of the Tasman Trespasser campaign we have helped Shaun out providing high speed broadband for his base here in New Zealand so that his support crew can keep track of him.

You too can keep track of his progress across the Tasman via the live tracking feed.

You can find out more about the campign on his website, or follow him on twitter for his latest updates. The whole team here at Orcon wishes Shaun a safe and successful crossing.
If you have any further questions, or need a hand with anything, please contact our team.
