The O Zone is now live - free data for Orcon Broadband customers
As of today the Orcon O Zone is now live, so Orcon Broadband customers on our current range of plans can surf, stream, upload and download from a range of great sites without the data being counted towards their monthly data use. How cool is that?
Head over and check out the following sites, safe in the knowledge that as an Orcon Broadband customer on one of our great @Home or @Work plans you wont be racking up any excess data charges, or eating into your data allowance...
That is just the begining. We plan on growing the O Zone over the coming months to include more great New Zealand content. We have already received a whole raft of great suggestions from you about which sites you would like to see included, but if you have anymore feel free to add them in the comments below, or send us an email - .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
If you want to find out more about the O Zone check out the FAQs.
Finally, if for some reason you are not already an Orcon Broadband customer this is another great reason to make the switch today. Head on over and check out our home broadband or business broadband plans right now.

I listen to Kiwi-FM on-line as I work from home and can’t get any decent radio reception. I only listen using the Dial-up option at 40 K bits/second. It would be great to have it added to the O-zone

The first website that came into mind was TradeMe. A Kiwi favorite!

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions guys.
@Warren Harvey - Yes, if you watched this on the TVNZ site it should not have counted toward your data usage (provided you are on one of the Orcon@Home or Orcon@Work plans). Is it possible you had some other program running that was using data at the same time? (for example: podcasts automatically downloading in iTunes, Windows updates downloading, etc..)

Having Microsoft on O Zone would be very good as we could all get our windows updates and trials for free. Microsoft does have servers in New Zealand (in Auckland I believe) so it would be great to have it added to O Zone

At first I thought iTunes (for movie rentals) but we need decent download times so we can watch ‘em as they come down so maybe not.
Maybe iTunes for podcasts or subscribed TV shows when they arrive

@ Oliver Baker that would be good but there’s 1 problem when windows looks for updates it doesn’t contact the servers in NZ rather it goes direct to MS in the US as even when you click to d/l an update or driver or DirectX for that matter you are redirected to the US server

it has been great getting YouTube for nix over the summer holidays. Thanks a lot Orcon. But how about making it a permanent feature? THAT would be an absolutely spiffing gesture old chaps!
