More sites we love

Tuesday July 24, 2007 ~ Posted by: Duncan Blair

We had some great feedback about our last sites we love blog post, so we thought we would serve up a second helping. If there are sites that you love that you think other Orcon customers would be interested in, feel free to drop us an email to let us know - feedback@orcon.net.nz

Blogger

Want to get in on the blogging action but have no idea where to begin? Blogger is a free service offered by Google that lets you create your own blog (web log) in minutes, with no technical knowledge. Then you are free to voice your opinions for all to hear. Let everyone know how much you hate blue cheese, explain why the glass is definitely half full, or let the world know that you have discovered that domesticated dogs are plotting to take over the world. Whatever you have to say you can do it quickly, easily, and free!

ZoomIn

The guys and girls at ZoomIn have created a nifty tool that lets you find any address in New Zealand and show it on a map. Great for finding exactly where you need to go. You can also add tags and label places on the maps, and add photos of locations.

MtRuapehu.com

The ski season is in full swing, and Mt Ruapehu has re-developed their website. You can now check the conditions on the mountain (both text and video), and view photos and videos from on the mountain. It's a great place to check out the conditions before you decide to 'call in sick'.

You can also see some great info and content from some of the South Island fields at NZSki.com.

Pitchfork Media

All the music news and reviews that you can handle! Pitchfork has a huge database of record reviews stretching back more than 10 years. The reviews are all extremely comprehensive. Add to that great music news and audio and video content and you have a site that is easy to get lost on for several hours. A must for all music addicts.

Slashdot

The tech guys here at Orcon told me that I had to include this one. Slashdot is a news site for nerds. If it matters to geeks, then it is on Slashdot. This site is so popular that it has created its own phenomenon - the Slashdot effect.
