Reminder about STaN (Status Text Notification)

Tuesday September 12, 2006 ~ Posted by: Duncan Blair

STaN is the system status text notification service we began trailing in May. This allows our users to find out if there are any issues with the Orcon network without having to make a call to the helpdesk. All you need to do is text the word 'STATUS' to 464 from any mobile phone.

We are still the only ISP in New Zealand to offer this revolutionary service. The service was introduced because in the event of an issue on the network the volume of calls to the helpdesk increases dramatically. This means that call wait times also increase. With STaN you can simply and easily check if there is an issue without having to wait in a phone queue.

This also allows Orcon users to troubleshoot their own connection. A quick text to STaN lets our customers know if there is an issue with their equipment, or if it is an issue with the network. Of course our great team of internet specialists are still here to help out if it is an issue with your equipment or settings.

STaN has proved to be very popular since we introduced him, with more than 1000 people testing the service.

STaN is updated in real time between 8am to 11pm Monday to Friday and 11am to 8pm weekends, so Orcon customers can be sure that they are getting the latest system status information. Standard text message charges of 20c per message apply.
