A simple tip for broadband users
Monday August 06, 2007 ~ Posted by: Duncan Blair
A company called Epitiro has been measuring broadband speeds in New Zealand from the top 5 ISP's, and have come up with some interesting preliminary findings. They have found that some users are experiencing slower speeds than their lines are capable of because their broadband modem is syncing at a low speed. Luckily there is an easy way to fix this!
If you notice that your broadband is running a little slower than usual try turning your modem off, leaving it for a few seconds and then turning it back on. This forces the modem to re-sync with our equipment, which should mean you are back at your normal speed.
In fact, if you are having any problems with your broadband connection the first thing you should try is re-booting your modem. I know it doesn't sound very 'high tech', but you would be surprised at how many connection problems a simple re-boot can solve.
