What can LLU do for you?

Wednesday April 02, 2008 ~ Posted by: Duncan Blair

We have had an overwhelming response to our Orcon+ (LLU) product launch, with everyone here at Orcon HQ working overtime to make sure that we get all the customers up and running as soon as possible. As a result of the massive demand the lead times for getting you connected are currently longer than we would like, we are ramping up capacity to ensure that we bring this down. In the mean time I would like to share a real life example of a customer that has moved onto the new Orcon+ network (so you can see that it is worth the wait!).

Mark Webster is a Mac enthusiast (to put it lightly) and the ex-editor of Macguide magazine. Mark took part in the Orcon+ network beta trial, and is now on the Platinum+ plan.

Mark has written an extensive review of his Orcon ADSL2+ experience on his blog, but I would like to share with you some brief highlights (and updates) because I think Marks story is a great illustration of what the Orcon+ network can deliver in the real world.

Mark is located a reasonable distance from the Ponsonby exchange, with a copper loop approximately 3km long running to his house. Prior to unbundling Mark was getting download speeds of less than 1.5Mbps. He is now getting more than 6Mbps!

It wasn't just download speeds that improved either, you can see the summary on the lovely graph that Mark whipped up for us below:

As you can also see from the graph when we sent him out his shiny new Orcon Homehub he got another little speed boost. Another reason why we recommend that you take advantage of this great piece of technology that you can add to your plan for just $5 per month.

You can read Mark's full review of next generation Orcon broadband on his Mac NZ website.
