Orcon launches the first unbundled service in New Zealand!

Thursday March 13, 2008 ~ Posted by: Duncan Blair

Yep, we've done it - our shiny new, Next Generation ADSL2+ network that we have been trialling for the past few months is now open for people in five Auckland suburbs to sign up for as of today. It means we can finally give you all the cool stuff that we've wanted to for some time now, like faster broadband - up to 24Mbps download and 1Mbps upload. That's triple the downstream connection speed of standard ADSL.

And we've included unlimited national calls in our main Gold+ and Platinum+ plans, so you can relax and make as many calls as you like in NZ and know it's included in your plan price.

We've also thrown caution to the wind and gotten rid of those nasty lock-you-in contracts. Because we finally have control over the network, it means we can stand behind it - if you don't like it, you can leave, but we think the whole thing is pretty awesome, so why would you want to?

Who can get it? The best way to check is to put your phone number in our checker on the homepage. Basically if your house is within range of the Ponsonby, Glenfield, Ellerslie, Mt Albert or Browns Bay exchanges you should be all good.

And yes, there's more coming soon. We're planning to get another ten exchanges up and running before the ski fields open. Check out where we are headed next on the Orcon+ Network future page.

You can find out more about the new network, the coverage areas, the technology behind it, and where to next in the Orcon+ Network section.

We haven't forgotten about those people outside of the first five exchange areas either. We have launched brand new great value packages based on our existing products for those of you who are going to have to wait for LLU to get to you.
