Orcon named ISP of the Year (again!)

Friday October 12, 2007 ~ Posted by: Duncan Blair

Everybody here at Orcon is buzzing today (even those of us who partied into the early hours of the morning) after we took out the 'ISP of the Year' award at last nights TUANZ Innovation Awards. This is the second year in a row that we have won the award, and we see it as great recognition that we are doing the right things.

TUANZ is the Telecommunications Users Association of New Zealand, a not for profit organisation that is focused on improving telecommunications in New Zealand. It has 500 member organisations, all of which are major providers or users of telecommunications. Their annual Innovation Awards recognise excellence in product or service provision, with a particular focus on innovation.

In addition to beating eight of our competitors to take out the ISP of the Year award we were also a finalist in the Telecommunications Carrier of the Year award. Not bad considering we are relatively new at the whole telco thing.

First and foremost we would like to say a huge thanks to all our customers, particularly those who took the time to vote for us.

Congratulations too to all the other finalists and winners, from all the categories. We certainly felt like we were amongst some pretty good company last night.

As many of you already know we have some huge plans for the coming twelve months. With local loop unbundling just around the corner we are planning to deliver New Zealanders with a level of service that they have never before experienced (more details on this soon, I promise). So the good news is that things are only going to get better!

Thanks again to our customers for their support, and for those of you who are fed up with your current ISP why not come and join New Zealand's best?

You can see a full list of the winners, and a short write-up of the night on the TUANZ website.
