We are in your exchange, unbundling your local loop

Thursday August 09, 2007 ~ Posted by: Duncan Blair

Today is a huge day in New Zealand telecommunications history. We are the first 100% Kiwi-owned telecommunications provider to have put our telephone and broadband equipment in the Ponsonby exchange and unbundle the local loop.

Being first is part of who we are. Over the years we have recorded a number of firsts, like being the first provider to sell wholesale broadband, and the first provider to offer a broadband plan at less than $20 per month.

As part of this trial we have installed equipment in the Ponsonby exchange, and will soon have equipment in the Glenfield exchange too. Mount Albert, Ellerslie, and Browns Bay are going to follow soon after.

When will your exchange be unbundled? The truth is that we just don't know at this stage. But we are pushing Telecom as hard as we can to ensure that it happens as soon as possible.

We expect to invite customers in Ponsonby and Glenfield to participate in the trial from September onwards.

The best way to be part of this is to be an Orcon customer, so sign up for Orcon Broadband today!
