What is DSL?
DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) turns your standard copper phone line into a high-speed Internet connection, while allowing you to talk and surf at the same time.
At the local telephone exchange, Internet and data are combined but kept distinct by making them use different frequencies (high and low pitches). At your house, the reverse operation is performed and the streams split apart and directed to your telephone or DSL modem.
The DSL modem then decodes the data stream and converts it into a form your computer can understand.
