FAQs

What is broadband?

Broadband is a term used to describe a constant, high-speed Internet connection. These connections can be delivered using a variety of technologies. Orcon predominantly uses a technology called ADSL to deliver broadband connections to homes and offices around New Zealand using the existing telephone network. We have also begun rolling out our own Next Generation Network which uses ADSL2+ technology.

The important thing is that broadband connections are faster, and allow you to do lots of cool things on the Internet like listen to streaming radio, watch movie trailers, send photos to friends and family, and use the latest internet applications, all without having to wait around, or tying up your phone line.
