The 'local loop' is the name for the copper wiring owned by Telecom that connects your house to the local exchange. 'Unbundling' the local loop means that while Telecom still owns these wires, it must lease them to telecommunications providers, like Orcon, who want to set up their own service.

LLU allows Orcon to install its own equipment in telephone exchanges. This means that by signing up to our next generation ADSL2+ network, all of your calls and Internet traffic will then only flow through Orcon's network.
