What is a domain name?

A domain name is a unique name that corresponds to the numeric (IP) address of a computer on the Internet. They are commonly referred to as web addresses, and can also be described as 'everything to the right of an @ sign in an email address'. So orcon.net.nz is a domain name, so is google.com, and stuffonmycat.com.
