Technological wizardry behind Orcon’s next generation network

The wire that connects your place to your telecommunications provider’s equipment at the local telephone exchange is known as a "local loop", and up until now, Telecom has had exclusive access. Local Loop Unbundling, or LLU, is the regulatory process that’s freed up the local loop for competition, enabling us to install our own equipment in telephone exchanges.

Access to this loop allows us to offer our customers new and innovative services. So now and in the future, more Kiwis can choose a genuine alternative telecommunications provider, for a great Internet experience and real calling value. The first stages of network development are already happening around Auckland, expanding soon to other areas. Watch this space!
